Flood Cleanup Creates Hundreds of Jobs For Nashville and Cheatham County, Tenn. WSMV-TV4 (NBC), JW Williams, vice president of Labor Finders Tennessee interviewed on 5-10-2010
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The unemployment rate was already high before the devastating flood took even more jobs but Labor Finders in Madison is looking to fill about 300 flood-related positions.
"There are people in Nashville who need work," said JW Williams, vice president of Labor Finders Tennessee. "The jobs will range anywhere from general cleanup, just cleaning up after the flood damage, to skilled positions for electricians, plumbers, carpenters."
And the jobs are not just in Nashville -- Labor Finders has people doing flood recovery work in Cheatham County.
"They can start just as soon as they come in," said Williams. "It is a short application process. All the workers need to do is to bring two forms of ID, fill out the application, go through the safety orientation, and we can put them to work."
Labor Finders can provide boots, a hard hat and work gloves for those who do not have them. They can also give transportation to the job site for those who need it.
"They can start working today or tomorrow, and there are shifts available," Williams said. "We have night work. The contractors are pretty much working around the clock, so shifts are available all day and through the night.
Labor Finders said that those who do not land a job right now should keep checking on a daily basis.
